A Toll Collector - Park Resident Opportunity - August 15 to October 15, 2025

Visitor Services

Greets visitors to the park, answers questions and gives directions, interprets park rules, answers phone and collects fees. Our Ranger Station is a very busy one, often with a very long line outside the gate, constantly ringing phones, and campers checking in. It is necessary to get visitors in quickly so they can make the boats on time. In some situations, may also be trained to assist with camper registrations. May be requested to assist in other duties.


REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Should enjoy dealing with the public, talking with people. Patience & tact is a must. Basic math for money handling and ability to keep records.

Pass National and Florida Sexual Offender Checks, have excellent work or volunteer-related references.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

24 hours per week per site (can split between multiple site occupants), 4 days a week; from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with one hour for lunch. Per every 4 hours worked, a 15-minute break can be taken. Additional breaks may be necessary for safety concerns.

TRAINING/PRE-REQUISITS:

An orientation and on-the-job training will be on-going and provided by the park.

In the Volunteer Portal, have a Volunteer Application, a current Volunteer Agreement, and Volunteer DEP Annual Combo Training (diversity, sexual harassment & workers' compensation), both renewed annually. You may be asked to provide a valid form of identification.

  • Join us in park staff gatherings (i.e., potlucks, celebrations, holiday parties, etc.) and the annual district Volunteer Appreciation gathering
